Ademola Adeleke is confirmed as Osun State’s governor by the Supreme Court.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola’s appeal contesting Senator Ademola Adeleke’s appointment as governor of Osun State.

The Appeal Court’s decision to uphold Adeleke’s election as the state governor was also upheld by the Court in its ruling, which was read out by Justice Emmanuel Agim.

The appellant’s claim of excessive voting in the July 16, 2022 governorship election wasn’t supported by enough evidence, the top court ruled.

The judge ruled that the appellant’s evidence, which omitted data from the 744 disputed Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices, could not be recognized as the main repository of information about the accredited voters in the contested polling places.

The appellants relied on a secondary, insufficient, and inadmissible method of proof because they were unable to provide the original voter accreditation records from the BVAS.

It was inferred that the appellants relied on a secondary, insufficient, and inadmissible method of proof by failing to present the genuine voter accreditation data from the BVAS.

“The appellant case clearly collapsed at the conclusion of evidence,” Mr Agim said.
