Speculations about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s potential running mate for the 2024 elections have led to fresh allegations made by Godsbrain Captain Smart, the host of Onua TV’s morning show.
Captain Smart implies that Bawumia may have already decided on key appointments in his potential administration.
During his show, Captain Smart claimed that some prominent members of the Akufo-Addo government would play significant roles in Bawumia’s administration, alleging that this move aims to spite former President John Agyekum Kufuor and cover up alleged corruption at the presidency.
Captain Smart alleges that if Bawumia becomes president, Nana Asante Bediatuo, the current secretary to President Akufo-Addo, would become Ghana’s Attorney-General. Additionally, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, President Akufo-Addo’s cousin, would reportedly assume the role of Chief of Staff, and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta would become Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America.
According to Captain Smart, these appointments are orchestrated to both spite JA Kufuor and conceal alleged corruption within the presidency. Despite the allegations, Captain Smart emphasized his intent to vote against the NPP in 2024, breaking his usual support for the party.
While Captain Smart discusses post-election appointments, Bawumia’s immediate focus is likely on selecting a suitable running mate. Names like Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, and Kennedy Agyapong have been suggested. Meanwhile, MP Joe Osei Owusu has indicated a consensus within the party that Bawumia’s running mate should come from the Ashanti Region.
Please note that these allegations lack substantial evidence, and the claims made by Captain Smart should be considered as part of the ongoing political discourse.
