The Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, Atiku Abubakar, by releasing President Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials.
President Tinubu petitioned the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago for an order ordering the university to produce Tinubu’s academic records.
Angela M. Liu, the United States lawyer for the PDP candidate, told the court that she tried unsuccessfully, even with a subpoena, to compel the university to acknowledge or deny the issuance of two diploma certificates with different dates.

Through his attorney, Atiku requested that the court demand Tinubu’s files at CSU, claiming that the files would clarify the debate surrounding Tinubu’s academic background and assist the election petition tribunal.
CSU committed to reveal Tinubu’s academic records only if a US court grants the order in its response to Atiku’s suit on Thursday.
“understand” why Tinubu’s academic credentials “could possibly have any bearing on a foreign election challenge in 2023.”
The four highlights of CSU’s response to Atiku’s request for Tinubu’s academic records are listed below.
- Tinubu graduated from Chicago State University in 1979, according to university records.
- Tinubu opposed Atiku’s application, requesting that the university provide his academic records.
- Atiku’s lawyers stated that the information about Tinubu’s academic achievements could be used in an appeal.
- If the court allows Atiku’s application, the institution is prepared to provide Tinubu’s records on a conditional basis.
