Julius Agwu, a veteran comedian and actor, has denied accusations that his estranged wife, Ibiere Maclayton, married him for money.
Citi News recalls that a segment of the media stated a few days ago that the actor made some insinuations during an interview that his estranged wife married him because he was wealthy.
“I believe that any marriage without God would not last,” Agwu remarked in an interview with Punch.

“I didn’t even check with God before marrying my wife. Some of us married when there was a lot of money and nearly every female wanted to be with us.”
“But, after marriage, if anything happens to one, they would say, “I don’t want this man again. I suggest that people should consult
God first before getting married.”
However, during an Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, Julius Agwu stated that his wife did not marry him for money.

He protested that he never said anything like that.
“They said you said your wife, 1B, married you for money,” Daddy Freeze says. Please take care of that.”
“I was interviewed by The Punch,” Julius Agwu says.
That was never something I said. Segun Arinze emailed it to me lately, and I saw it.
“I can never debase myself like that. My former wife never married me for any money.
And Julius Agwu never said that. She is the mother of my children. I can never say something like that about her.”
