Peter Okoye of the PSquare music group, a popular Nigerian artist, has threatened banks in Nigeria with legal action for allowing impersonation.
The artist resorted to social media to express his concern over others using his name to defraud innocent victims.
Peter Okoye stated that Access and Polaris banks did not perform due diligence when the impostor opened accounts in their names as “Peter Okoye PSquare.”
Scammers have used his lottery programme, which he has been running, to prey on fans who believe they are doing business with the musician.
After becoming tired of the constant criticism from individuals who claim he tricked them by seeking money, Peter vowed to sue the two aforementioned banks.

He stated that he would sue for monetary damages and would target other institutions, questioning why banks would allow anyone to open an account in his name without verification.
Peter also suspected that the banks were collaborating with some of the scammers owing to how they handle impersonation.
He posted on Twitter,

Enough is enough. It’s either an inside job or otherwise. I have a name to protect here and save some of these innocent victims. So get ready for me and my legal team.
How can @polarisbankltd and @myaccessbank allow someone to open an account in the name of
“PETER OKOYE PSQUARE” without valid means of identification, no BVN, no biometrics, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond with the address of the account owner.
Now they are using my name to scam innocent people. I’m suing this bank for damages @officialefcc take note.”
