On Friday, Nollywood actors attended the candlelight service for their colleague, Obinna Nwafor, also known as Saint Obi.
According to Citi News, the actor died on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at the home of one of his siblings at 13 Metropolitan Street in Tudun Wada, Jos.
The family announced earlier this week that the burial of Saint Obi would take place on August 18th.
Photos uploaded on the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)’s official Instagram page show several Nollywood actors storming the candlelight service to pay their respects to the late movie icon.
Meanwhile, in response to the renowned actor’s death, director Zik Zulu disclosed the conditions that led to his death in an article titled ‘Between Saint Obi’s Marriage and His Death,’ in which he claimed that the late actor’s married life may have contributed to his demise.
In his piece, the former head of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria remarked that Saint Obi’s celebrity brought him a “financially strong and powerful wife,” luring him into a marriage that would “drastically alter the cause of his life.”
According to him, Saint Obi was constantly harassed by his wife’s siblings, which eventually led to the marriage’s demise.
Okafor revealed that the actor felt ill in mid-2022 as a result of their divorce settlement.
