The Senate on Tuesday commended President Bola Tinubu on his selection to enforce the complete elimination of fuel subsidy in Nigeria, describing it as a pass in the right direction.
They also expressed happiness that the selection used to be taken during the tenure of the tenth National Assembly.
The lawmakers of the higher chamber of the National Assembly alternatively known as on Tinubu to quickly trend out and implement the palliatives for Nigerians to cushion the impact of the removal.
The Senators for the duration of plenary in a motion moved through Senator Patrick Ndubueze, representing Imo North Senatorial District and titled “Need to Investigate the controversial big expenditure on Premium Motor Spirit(PMS) beneath the Subsidy/Under Recovery Regime through the NNPCL, agreed to amongst others, represent an Adhoc Committee to holistically inspect all controversies surrounding “subsidy and below recuperation regime.”
Ruling on the motion after deliberations and contributions by individuals on the floor of the Senate, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio bought the nod of his colleagues to formally commend President Tinubu on his courageous choice to end the payment of subsidy on PMS.
According to a assertion from the media group of the Senate President, Akpabio, whilst commending his colleagues on their choice to commend the President on the gasoline subsidy elimination said, “We commend President Tinubu for the decision to take away gas subsidy. We are excited for the braveness displayed by means of the President.
“It was one decision that had to be taken and we are happy that it was taken during the lifetime of the 10th Senate. We are also looking forward to the implementation of the palliatives.”
