Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has resigned.

According to sources, the minister has submitted his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, according to information obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Abuja on Friday.

Bashir Ahmad, Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, confirmed the resignation of Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. In a tweet on Friday, Ahmad stated that the minister resigned to run in the Bayelsa State governorship election on November 11, 2023.

According to sources, Mr Sylva intends to run for governor of Bayelsa and will take part in the upcoming APC primary election, which is expected to take place in April.

Mr Sylva has only served one term as governor of Bayelsa and is eligible to run for re-election.
