U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles Expect Positive Start Against Dominican Republic
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will look to start their campaign at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup on a winning note when they take on debutants Dominican Republic on Sunday (today).
The encounter at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas, Mendoza will kick-off at 7pm Nigerian time. Ladan Bosso’s side are overwhelming favourites against Dominican Republic who will be playing their first-ever match in a FIFA organised tournament.
With tough fixtures against European powerhouse Italy and five-time champions Brazil still to come in the group, the Flying Eagles know it is important to win this tie. Bosso has rejigged his squad following the team’s failure to win the U-20 AFCON title in Egypt earlier in the year in Egypt.
The roster has been replenished with several new players, including young AC Milan star Victor Eletu. The two-time finalists drew 3-3 against Colombia in a friendly on Tuesday. Brazil and Italy will play in another group match.
